26. A belief I have or used to have

16.35

It happens to many people that with the course of the years an image of something is created in their mind and when they really see it, it is not what they had been thinking all their life. This is what has happened to me with university life and studies.

I used to think that the university was a walk; that they didn't send homework or assignments and that you only had to do something at Christmas as the final exams were coming up. These thoughts are due to the great number of photos and videos I saw of university students I know who spent their days at parties and at their friends' houses without doing anything and still saw on their social networks that they passed their subjects. In addition, I used to think that the professors at the university never got to know their student's names; that they would come to class and explain their subject after an hour with their monologue and then, they would leave, without caring if the class had understood. I had many stereotypes of the university that I had come to think because of the influence of social media and university people who told their every day life as if it were a film.

When I finally got to the college stage I realized that everything I thought about life and university was wrong. First of all, studying the last month before the exams is not the only thing you have to do. Added to this, you have to study little by little because otherwise it's going to be too big and you're not going to be able to do it. Moreover, not only studying is what you must do during the course, but also doing homework that has to be submitted weekly and also individual or group work that has to be submitted at the end of the term. On the other hand, teachers not only get to know your name if you participate in class but also, they offer their help and time outside of class to ask questions if you need it. Besides, they try to make the class as dynamic as possible so that it doesn't become too long for students.

In short, it is better not to believe certain things until you see or experience them in first person because there are as many ways to feel something as there are people in the world.
